Thanks Karen! It always helps if you can leverage your media / social media presence and get people excited about the project. Also, when you share the project on social media, ASK people directly to share the project with their colleagues and friends - you can often get many more retweets just by asking for retweets. I'd also encourage you to organize a few social media live-chats about your research, and to especially in the beginning regularly create lab-notes about your project, relevant research papers, etc. that you can share via your social media channels. Anything to drive traffic to your page is key. I found that you need around 100 page views on your project page for each pledge.
