Users are required to make an account in order to donate to a project, and we often get questions about why this restriction is in place.
The answer isn't as exciting or dramatic as capturing all user data or privacy. Instead, the real reason is that pledges from backers are sometimes unsuccessful, and we need to follow-up with backers if their charges do not go through. Backers are not charged until the project that they have pledged contributions to is successful at the end of the project's campaign.
We're open to suggestions or alternatives about how to improve this.
